Sanjeev Rajput Clinches Silver In Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions

Indian Arjuna Awardee, shooter Sanjeev Rajput gave India its eighth medal at the 2018 Asian Games as he won silver in men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions category on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old shooter from Haryana missed out the top spot by a whisker as ended up just 0.4 point behind the eventual gold medalist.

Yesterday, Vinesh Phogat, also from Haryana, became the first Indian woman wrestler to win gold medal in Asian Games.

Rajput shot a total of 452.7 to claim second position on the podium at the JSC – Shooting Range. China’s Hui Zicheng notched up the gold medal with a score of 453.3. Japan’s Matsumoto Takayuki bagged the bronze with 441.4.

He recovered from 7.8 in the third series of the kneeling position to end in the top position with a score of 151.2.

Rajput came into the Asian Games on the back of a good performance at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, where he clinched the gold medal. Earlier, Rajput had won the gold medal at the 50m rifle 3 positions in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
