Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and DMK Chief M Karunanidhi passed away. He was 94 years old. Karunanidhi was admitted to Kauvery Hospital from Chennai on July 28.

M. Karunanidhi, who was Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu 5 times, was admitted to Kauvery Hospital in Chennai on July 28 after he his health started detoriating. Karunanidhi died at 6:10 in the evening.

According to a press release issued by the executive director of the hospital, Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, “We have to tell with great sadness that our dear Kalaignar, M. Karunanidhi, died on August 7, 2018 at 6:10 in the evening. Despite the best efforts of our team of doctors and nurses, he could not be saved.” According to the release, “We express deep condolences on the demise of one of the strongest leaders of India and share the sadness of family members and Tamilians settled around the world.”
