Kesari First Poster Released: Akshay Kumar Pays Tribute To Martyrs Of Saragarhi

After Akshay Kumar’s superhit Gold, multiple movies looks coming from him on Box Office. After Padman and Gold this year, and the teaser of his first Tamil film 2.0 releasing on Thursday, a new movie is in queue from him. The first poster for Akshay Kumar’s Kesari, based on the Battle of Saragarhi where 21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 Afghans in 1897, was revealed on Wednesday by the actor on his official Twitter handle.

The actor shared the poster on the anniversary of the Saragarhi battle, which took place on September 12, 1897.

Taking to Twitter, Akshay shared the photo in which he is seen with a band of men dressed in Army uniforms. He captioned the photo, “On #SaragarhiDay, here’s the first look of #KESARI – our humble tribute to the martyrs of Saragarhi! “Aaj meri pagdi bhi Kesari…Jo bahega mera woh lahu bhi Kesari… Aur mera jawaab bhi Kesari.”

Parineeti Chopra, who co-stars with Akshay Kumar in the film, also shared the posters on her timeline. The Kesari posters feature fictionalised versions of all 21 of the Sikh soldiers with Akshay taking the center-stage as Havildar Ishar Singh, who lead the Sikh soldiers in the battle.

Kesari is helmed by Anurag Singh who is a popular Punjabi director. Anurag has previously directed films like Jatt & Juliet, Punjab 1984 among others. This is his first Hindi film. He has also co-written the film with Girish Kohli. The first posters of Kesari also confirmed the release date of the movie to be March 21, 2019.
